Welcome to the Games Vault newsletter. It's another busy week here at The Vault. In this week's newsletter:
From The Expo
The Games Vault visited the UK Games Expo in Birmingham on Sunday 6 July looking out for some great new games that we could bring back for you. We like to think that we succeeded! The first new game is Retsami (£15). Retsami is similar to Backgammon, but without the element of chance. It is also similar to Chess, but not as long, and much easier to master. It is a powerful and exciting two player board game of countless possibilities. Using your mind and imagination you will love Retsami. One remarkable aspect of Retsami is that this amazing game has only 4 rules. But what it lacks in rules, it makes up for in strategies. So every game comes with a copy of "Retsami: The Sample Game", a booklet containing illustrations of and comment on every move of an actual game. 10+, 2 players. Next up, from the designer of Pandemic, is Forbidden Island (£15). Dare to discover Forbidden Island! Join a team of fearless adventurers on a do-or-die mission to capture four sacred treasures from the ruins of this perilous paradise. Your team will have to work together and make some pulse-pounding manoeuvres, as the island will sink beneath every step! Race to collect the treasures and make a triumphant escape before you are swallowed into the watery abyss! This is a fantastic game presented in a lovely tin box with great artwork, 10+, 2-4 players. And finally, we offer Tri 3D (£15). This brand new and unique board game can be played by 2 or 3 players aged 8+. It is played on the unique Tri 3D board - 3 transparent triangular platforms stacked one above the other. Players take it in turns to move one space at a time around the board in any direction, and attempt to capture their opponent's counters by surrounding them on two sides or cornering them. The ability to jump between the platforms adds an extra dimension to this exciting game of strategy, skill and cunning, as players can sneak up on their opponents and catch them off guard. 8+, 2-3 players. Until Friday, 18 June, any purchase that includes one or more of the above new games will earn DOUBLE VAULT POINTS.
Other New ProductsBoard GamesMartinique (£25). An ancient legend says a great pirate treasure is buried on the island of Martinique. Pirates would have attacked various merchant vessels, confiscated their loads and eventually sunk the ships. Afterwards they would have brought the stolen jewels, objects and coins to the island to bury the treasure over there. Many have tried to find the Lost Treasure, but nobody has succeeded so far. You are the captain of a pirate ship heading for Martinique. After dropping anchor in the morning, you set off in a rowboat towards the island with four of your most loyal pirates to find the Lost Treasure. Will you unravel the legend and add your name to the illustrious list of great pirates and rulers of the seven seas? 10+, 2 players. RPGAtomic Highway (£20) In a savage world where the strong ravage and exploit the weak, the survivors’ settlements are oases, connected only by convoys of armed and armoured vehicles that run the gauntlet of raiders... and worse. Though the threats of chemical and biological agents and radiation have all but faded, their taint lingers on in every mutant born to man and beast. This is the world of Atomic Highway.
